Hi, I’m Tugrul, and for over two decades, I’ve been immersed in the world of mechanical engineering and data analytics. This journey has been driven by a relentless passion for enhancing power generation efficiency. It all started with a profound fascination with mechanical systems, leading me to pursue a PhD focused on power plant modeling.
Throughout my career, I’ve spent countless hours working with heat and mass balance software and creating digital models that ensure power plants operate more efficiently. These models, known as thermodynamic digital twins, have been pivotal in transforming theoretical concepts into practical tools. Their impact is felt in power plants worldwide, contributing to better performance and efficiency.
But my mission didn’t stop at theoretical applications. The blend of my mechanical engineering expertise with software development has opened new avenues, enabling me to harness AI and data analytics. This skill set is crucial as the power generation industry moves towards digital transformation.
However, my professional achievements are only one aspect of my life. Beyond the office, my interests and hobbies keep me grounded. Let’s talk a bit about my other passion—classic Mercedes cars, which are not just a hobby but an ambition. This passion showcases another side of my dedication to engineering excellence and craftsmanship.
The Heart of Balance: Beyond the Office, My Personal Pursuits
While my work in energy transformation is incredibly fulfilling, there’s a quality of balance in my life that I achieve through my personal passions. Restoring classic Mercedes cars isn’t just a hobby—it’s an ambition that ties back to my engineering roots. Each vehicle is a testament to the craftsmanship and mechanics I admire, and the restoration process allows me to apply my skills in a different, yet equally rewarding, setting.
Classic Mercedes cars are more than just machines to me; they are symbols of resilience and innovation, much like the evolving power sector. The patience, precision, and attention to detail required in restoring these vehicles parallel my meticulous work at power generation. This passion keeps my curiosity alive and fuels my dedication to my professional career. I had three Classic Mercedes cars: a 1995 Model W124 E200, a 2000 Model W208 CLK Cabriolet, and a 1994 Model W140 S500. I still own the W140. Here is my classy Merc! 🙂
But it’s not just about cars. I also engage in various activities that help me maintain a well-rounded lifestyle. Whether it’s delving into new technology trends, participating in community events, or simply spending time outdoors, these pursuits offer me new perspectives and keep me invigorated for the challenges ahead.
This approach to work and life enables me to have fresh ideas and renewed energy, ready to tackle whatever comes next in the journey towards sustainable power generation. So, while my dedication to engineering might define my career, it’s my hobbies and interests that complete who I am.
